Ambassador Arman Khachatryan met with PACE President Tiny Kox

On February 3, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe Arman Khachatryan met with PACE President Tiny Kox.

Ambassador Khachatryan congratulated Tiny Kox on his election as PACE President and stressed the important role of PACE as a pan-European platform for political discussions for the protection of human rights, strengthening democracy and ensuring the rule of law in Europe.

The importance of the resolution "Functioning of democratic institutions in Armenia" adopted during the PACE winter session was stressed, which confirmed that Armenia has made marked progress in its democratic development.

It was emphasized that in the same Resolution the Assembly reiterates its demand for the return of all Armenian prisoners of war in accordance with paragraph 8 of the Trilateral Statement, reaffirms the importance of cultural and religious heritage and the urgent need to establish mechanisms required for its protection and restoration and calls for a just and lasting resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, within the framework of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Co-chairmanship,

Ambassador Khachatryan presented the humanitarian consequences of the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, including the problem of repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees. The importance of PACE consistent role consistent involvement in addressing these issues was underscored.
