Visit of the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development of Armenia David Lokyan to Strasbourg

On October 19-21, the 31th session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe took place. On October 20, during the plenary session of Congress the Minister of Territorial Administration and Development David Lokyan delivered a speech on the subject ‘Political dialogue of Congress with the Armenian authorities’, and then answered the questions of delegates.

In his speech D. Lokyan presented already implemented and ongoing activities in Armenia aimed at the development of local democracy and guarantying of the European Charter of Local Self-direction. The Minister highly appreciated the fruitful cooperation with the relevant institutions of the Council of Europe, particularly with the Congress, which continues to be implemented within the framework of Armenia-Council of Europe Action Plan 2015-2018 and post-monitoring dialogue with the Congress.

Minister Lokyan had official meetings with the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, the newly appointed President of the Congress Gudrun Mosler-Törnström and the outgoing President of the Congress Jean-Claude Frécon.

During the meetings, the parties discussed the current cooperation with the Council of Europe and the prospects of further interaction with the Congress.
