On January 20, the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe, Arman Khachatryan met with the President of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), Robert Spano.

ECHR President Robert Spano congratulated Ambassador Khachatryan on his appointment as Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe and stressed the importance of effective cooperation between the Court and the Government of Armenia.

President Robert Spano informed about reform agenda of the Court, the work carried out in this direction, and the existing programs.

Ambassador Khachatryan emphasized the importance of further enhancing the cooperation with the European Court of Human Rights and noted that the New Interagency Commission has been established in Armenia to further strengthen the implementation of the Convention. The Commission's work will be aimed at coordinating and developing more effective approaches to the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.

Judge of the European Court of Human Rights Armen Harutyunyan also took part in the meeting.
